Ground Level Ozone (O 3 ) CO, HC and Ground Level Ozone + Heat Good Ozone: Nothing lives in the Stratosphere, so upper atmosphere ozone doesn’t harm anything. All UV-C and most UV-B (95-99%) radiation does not pass through the ozone layer, protecting life from skin cancer and sun burn. Unstable ozone (O3) quickly reverts back to more stable O2 releasing heat (exothermic reaction) Ozone concentration quickly dissipates with no light (+O2) Bad, Ground Level Ozone: Extended exposure irritates and damages lung tissue.
