J) Inspection Preparation 1) Internal vs. Operational While some states require yearly inspections by a licensed boiler inspector (a state employee or an insurance representative), some states have no requirements. Internal (<strong>Boiler</strong> Off and Opened): Drain boiler, open all plates and ports to include low water cutoff float devices. Have replacement gasket material on hand for reassembly. Test pressure gauges for functionality. Operational (<strong>Boiler</strong> Running): Have on hand the boiler permit of operation, a copy of any repair or alteration reports, any state required standard forms and the ASME data report obtained from the boiler manufacturer during initial startup. Line the boiler up to fire. All burner management interlocks should be operational. P a g e 218
