Administration
This has been one of the most difficult years for the Corporate
Secretary and the department. To begin, I would like to thank
the executives who took on my role while I was away for several
months due to unforeseen circumstances. I would also like
to thank the staff of the administration department for their
hard word in keeping the department on its toes during the
presidential transitional period in Nunavik.
Throughout the year, Makivik Corporation had 22 Executive
meetings, either face to face or via conference call, seven Board
of Directors meetings were held, with four on teleconference
calls, and there was the Annual General Meeting in Puvirnituq,
to which Makivik Corporation invited the signatories.
The administration department welcomed new employees,
Stephane Mantha and Victoria Watt in Kuujjuaq, and Annie
Novalinga, Levina Gordon and Elisapie Imak in Montreal. With
these new additions to our department, we look forward to
serving the Inuit of Nunavik.
We have always had challenges in our departments and this
year was no different, but we have been more proactive this year
than in previous ones. We are updating the maintenance of our
buildings and houses so are prepared to deal with emergencies
rather than simply reacting to situations as they occur.
In my capacity as Corporate Secretary, I was challenged
by the Board of Directors early in my mandate to move the
Corporation to paperless meetings. This file has taken a lot of

Administration
La dernière année s’est avérée difficile pour le secrétaire de la Société
et son service. Je tiens d’abord à remercier mes collègues du bureau
de direction qui ont assumé mes fonctions pendant mon absence
de plusieurs mois en raison de circonstances imprévues. Je souhaite
également remercier le personnel du Service de l’administration pour
son dévouement qui a permis d’assurer une période de transition
harmonieuse à la présidence de Makivik.
Tout au long de l’année, Makivik a tenu 22 réunions du bureau de
direction, en personne ou par conférence téléphonique, sept réunions
du conseil d’administration, dont quatre par téléconférence, sans
oublier l’assemblée générale annuelle de Makivik tenue à Puvirnituq
en présence des signataires de la CBJNQ.
Le Service de l’administration a accueilli de nouveaux employés,
soit Stéphane Mantha et Victoria Watt à Kuujjuaq, ainsi que Annie
Novalinga, Levina Gordon et Elisapie Imak à Montréal. Grâce à l’ajout
de ces nouvelles personnes, mon service continuera de desservir
efficacement les Inuit du Nunavik.
Notre avons toujours eu à relever de nombreux défis, et
cette année n’a pas fait exception, mais nous avons été encore
plus proactifs cette année. Nous procédons à l’actualisation
de l’entretien de nos bâtiments et résidences, ce qui nous permet
d’intervenir immédiatement en cas d’urgence au lieu de
simplement réagir aux situations lorsqu’elles se produisent.
À titre de secrétaire de la Société, j’ai été invité par le conseil d’administration
en début de mandat à faire cheminer la Société vers la tenue
