Starting Engine<br />

Starting in Ordinary Temperature<br />

1. Check that pilot control shut-off lever (1) is in the LOCK<br />

position.<br />

2. Turn engine control lever (3) to the slow idle position.<br />

3. Sound the horn to alert bystanders.<br />

4. Turn key switch (2) to rotate the starter. The engine will<br />

be started.<br />

OPERATING ENGINE<br />

IMPORTANT: Prevent starter damage and/or battery<br />

over discharge. Never run the starter<br />

for more than 10 or 15 seconds at a time<br />

(ZX14-3, 16-3, 18-3: 15 seconds, ZX27-3 : 10<br />

seconds). If the engine fails to start, return<br />

the key switch to OFF. Wait for more than 30<br />

seconds, then try again.<br />

5. Release key switch (2) immediately after the engine has<br />

started. It will automatically return to the ON position.<br />

fNOTE: The horn sounds even though the key switch is turned<br />

OFF. The engine does not start unless the pilot control<br />

shut-off lever is in the LOCK position.<br />

IMPORTANT: Avoid operating key switch (2) with stained<br />

hands or gloves.<br />
