BASIC INFORMATION<br />

Monash Health provides comprehensive primary,<br />

secondary and tertiary health care services to people<br />

living in the southeastern suburbs of metropolitan<br />

Melbourne from its five hospital sites: Monash<br />

Medical Centre Clayton, Moorabbin Hospital,<br />

Dandenong Hospital, Casey Hospital (Berwick), and<br />

Kingston Centre; Cranbourne Integrated Care Centre<br />

and five community health sites. All services provided<br />

at these sites are linked to provide a “system of care”<br />

from community through acute care to rehabilitation<br />

and continuing care.<br />

Monash Health provides health services for a primary<br />

catchment of more than 1 million residents and had<br />

over 3.1 million episodes of care across its various<br />

sites last year. There were over 10,162 births at Monash<br />

Health and 48,480 surgical operations performed.<br />

In addition there were over 220,913 presentations<br />

at our three emergency departments, with 54,495<br />

ambulance arrivals handled by our emergency<br />

departments. There were 40,206 children under<br />

age 19 admitted to our Monash Children’s Hospital<br />

wards and neonatal units, as well as 224,460 mental<br />

health client contacts. We conduct 99,190 hours of<br />

direct primary care and Home and Community Care<br />

services provide in our community. We have over<br />

16,000 dedicated staff caring for our patients.<br />

One outcome of the breadth and depth of our services<br />

is that it is possible to train in every single specialty<br />

at Monash Health. You will be able to interact with a<br />

range of specialties not offered at any other health<br />

service in the state.<br />
