REASONS TO APPLY<br />

Toowoomba Hospital offers most major specialties,<br />

except neurosurgery and cardiothoracic surgery, with<br />

a wide range of postgraduate educational activities.<br />

In addition, the staff ratio of medical education for<br />

junior doctors is twice the state average. Toowoomba<br />

hospital places a large emphasis on supporting their<br />

junior doctors which is reflected in the retention<br />

rate. Toowoomba is known as the “Garden City” with<br />

beautiful parklands and reserves, and a pleasant,<br />

mild climate. It is also gaining a reputation for its arty<br />

BASIC INFORMATION<br />

Toowoomba Hospital, part of the Darling Downs<br />

Hospital and Health Service, is a 320 bed hospital<br />

providing surgical, orthopaedic, ENT surgery,<br />

ophthalmology, urology, obstetric, paediatric and<br />

neonatal care in Special Care Nursery, anaesthesia,<br />

intensive care and high dependency care medicine<br />

including gastroenterology, geriatrics, endocrinology,<br />

oncology, respiratory and renal, and emergency<br />

medicine. The Hospital has a large 59 bed acute<br />

Mental Health Unit.<br />
