Rural Intern Pathway<br />

The South Australian Rural Intern Pathway was introduced<br />

in 2018 as a means to select applicants<br />

who are suitable and have a preference to work in<br />

a rural location. In order to be eligible for this program,<br />

you must preference a rural site as your first<br />

preference.<br />

Applicants can preference to work at the Flinders<br />

and Upper North Local Health Network (LHN) or<br />

Limestone Coast LHN, the Flinders Upper North<br />

LHN services, Whyalla Hospital and Health Service,<br />

the Port Augusta Hospital and Port Lincoln Health<br />

and Hospital Service, or the Limestone Coast LHN<br />

services, Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service.<br />

Both programs are designed to set up interns for a<br />

rural generalist career, with the potential to continue<br />

PGY2+ years in a rural setting.<br />

Interviews for 2021 internship will be held from<br />

24th to 25th June <strong>2020</strong> (to be confirmed), with<br />

rural intern pathway offers being released from<br />

Thursday 2nd July <strong>2020</strong>.<br />

Intern Rotations in Rural Health<br />

The Road to Rural (R2R) intern program gives 20<br />

interns the opportunity to complete a 10 week rural<br />

placement in a rural SA community. The regions include:<br />

Kadina, Crystal Brook, Jamestown and Port<br />

Lincoln. This is organised through the Rural Doctors<br />

Workforce Agency for rural South Australia.<br />
