Internship Guide 2020 - Updated

Rural Intern Pathway
The South Australian Rural Intern Pathway was introduced
in 2018 as a means to select applicants
who are suitable and have a preference to work in
a rural location. In order to be eligible for this program,
you must preference a rural site as your first
preference.
Applicants can preference to work at the Flinders
and Upper North Local Health Network (LHN) or
Limestone Coast LHN, the Flinders Upper North
LHN services, Whyalla Hospital and Health Service,
the Port Augusta Hospital and Port Lincoln Health
and Hospital Service, or the Limestone Coast LHN
services, Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service.
Both programs are designed to set up interns for a
rural generalist career, with the potential to continue
PGY2+ years in a rural setting.
Interviews for 2021 internship will be held from
24th to 25th June 2020 (to be confirmed), with
rural intern pathway offers being released from
Thursday 2nd July 2020.

Intern Rotations in Rural Health
The Road to Rural (R2R) intern program gives 20
interns the opportunity to complete a 10 week rural
placement in a rural SA community. The regions include:
Kadina, Crystal Brook, Jamestown and Port
Lincoln. This is organised through the Rural Doctors
Workforce Agency for rural South Australia.
