BASIC INFORMATION<br />

Interns at Canberra Health Services (CHS) do four<br />

terms a year. CHS offers highly competitive rates of<br />

pay and excellent working conditions. Competitive<br />

remuneration for medical officers, in addition to an<br />

attractive education allowance are also offered to<br />

interns and residents. Employee salary packaging with<br />

the full Public Benevolent Institution FBT concession<br />

is available. Some reimbursement of relocation<br />

expenses is available to medical officers recruited<br />

from interstate or overseas. The Canberra and Calvary<br />

Hospitals are the home hospitals for this network. All<br />

interns will have rotations at the Canberra Hospital.<br />

The Canberra Hospital has approximately 606 beds<br />

and busy outpatient clinics. It is a major tertiary trauma<br />

and teaching hospital, associated with the ANU, and<br />

covers many specialties. Calvary Public Hospital is a<br />

162 bed public teaching hospital, also associated with<br />

the ANU.<br />

CHS offers quality education and training conditions<br />

in a large tertiary hospital, with opportunity for rural<br />

rotations.<br />
