BASIC INFORMATION<br />

Redcliffe Peninsula is located in South East Queensland,<br />

35km from Brisbane. The hospital is affiliated with the<br />

UQ and Queensland University of Technology in training<br />

medical, nursing and allied health students. The hospital<br />

is also equipped with a library, with reference collection<br />

of textbooks provided by UQ for student access.<br />

REASONS TO APPLY<br />

• 240 bed Hospital that is just 30 minutes north of<br />

Brisbane city centre and only ten minutes walk to<br />

the seafront<br />

• 76 hour fortnight, five weeks annual leave<br />

• Beautiful area of Brisbane, and easy access to the<br />

ocean if interns and residents enjoy sailing or the<br />

sea breeze<br />

• Close proximity to Brisbane (access to postgraduate<br />

teaching programs at tertiary hospital campuses)<br />

units and general education sessions with guest<br />

The Rural Training Hubs (RTH) is an initiative that has<br />

been developed to enhance the pipeline of specialty<br />

training in the regional/rural areas. Junior doctors<br />

are well supported in their career development and<br />

pathways via this new initiative.<br />

NETWORK TRAINING SITES<br />

Central Queensland Hospital Health Service (CQHHS):<br />

Rockhampton Hospital is the primary allocations<br />

centre for the Intern training program.<br />

There are 5 terms of 10 weeks duration with 5<br />

weeks of recreational leave during non-compulsory<br />

rotations. Advocacy and pastoral care are provided<br />

by the Medical Education Unit throughout with a<br />

high emphasis on education and training under full<br />

supervision. All interns are offered 2-year contracts.<br />

in compulsory General Medicine, 1 in General<br />

Surgery and 1 in Emergency Medicine),<br />

• Capricorn Coast Hospital Health Service (CCHHS)<br />

• Rural General Practice terms: 1 at Theodore<br />

Medical, 1 at Emerald Medical Group<br />

Term<br />

BASIC INFORMATION<br />

Education opportunities include a broad case mix<br />

with close proximity of supervision by senior medical<br />

officers. High level of hands-on experience for a wide<br />

range of clinical skills and other experiences. Terms<br />

provide a rich learning environment including a high<br />

focus on interns achieving their personalised learning<br />

objectives through tailored experiences collaboratively<br />

developed between supervisor and intern.<br />
