Application<br />

Q: Do I need to submit more than one application to Tasmanian hospitals?<br />

A: No. An applicant only needs to apply once to be considered for a Tasmanian based medical<br />

intern position.<br />

Q: Can I submit a hard copy application?<br />

A: No. All applications must be submitted electronically.<br />

Q: Is my application to a Tasmanian hospital affected by also applying for medical intern position on<br />

the mainland?<br />

A: No. Those who apply for a medical intern position in Tasmania can also apply to other<br />

jurisdictions.<br />

Q: If my application is incomplete will it be considered?<br />

A: No. The on-line application system will recognise any incomplete sections of the application<br />

form and advise the applicant accordingly. Applications cannot be submitted until all required<br />

fields have been completed.<br />

Q: Are late applications accepted?<br />

A: No. Late applications will NOT be accepted. Applications will open on Monday 4 th May <strong>2020</strong> and<br />

close at midnight Thursday 4 June <strong>2020</strong>. Those interested in applying will have 33 days to submit<br />

their application.<br />

Q: Can I amend my application once the application process has closed on the 4 June <strong>2020</strong>?<br />

A: No. The 4 June <strong>2020</strong> is a Nationally agreed close date and States are required to provide data from<br />

completed applications to the National Audit Committee prior to first round offers.<br />

Q: Can I submit preferences for the Tasmanian hospital of my choice?<br />

A: Yes. As part of the application process applicants will be asked to indicate their preferred place of<br />

employment. This is a mandatory question and applicants will need to enter all 3 sites (LGH,<br />

NWRH, RHH) in order of preference. Preferences will be used during the ballot-based assessment<br />

process. NOTE: preferences is NOT guarantee of placement at preferred site.<br />

Q: Can I submit written referrals/hard copy letters of recommendation from a referee?<br />

A: No. Referee reports will NOT be used as part of the assessment process.<br />

Q: Do I need to nominate referees?<br />

A: No. References are not required as a part of the assessment process<br />

Q: Do I need to submit a CV and does it count towards my mark?<br />

A: Applicants should submit a CV with their application but understand that it will NOT be used as part<br />

of the assessment process.<br />

Q: Do I need to provide a written statement addressing the selection criteria?<br />

A: No. Applicants do NOT need to provide a written statement addressing the selection criteria.<br />

Q: What about special considerations?<br />

A: The assessment process does not provide provisions for special consideration/circumstances.<br />

NOTE: in previous years special circumstances were NOT a part of the merit process & were only<br />

considered in the case of a tiebreaker<br />

Q: Will Joint applications be considered?<br />

A: Joint applications may be submitted. Please note joint applications will not be exempt from the<br />

ballot process.<br />
