BASIC INFORMATION<br />

Network 12 is the largest hospital network in NSW for<br />

Junior Medical Officers, with a wide range of hospitals.<br />

The main John Hunter complex includes The John<br />

Hunter Hospital (550 beds, a Level 1 Trauma Centre<br />

and Major Tertiary Referral Hospital for northern<br />

NSW), and John Hunter Children’s Hospital (100<br />

beds).<br />

The John Hunter Emergency Department is the<br />

busiest Emergency Department in NSW. Regional and<br />

rural rotations include Maitland (45 minutes away),<br />

Tamworth (4 hours away), Taree (2 hours away)<br />

and Armidale (5 hours away) hospitals. Network 12<br />

facilities are affiliated with the University of Newcastle<br />

and University of New England Medical Schools.<br />
