may attend Outreach Clinic at Mornington Island,<br />

Normanton or Doomadgee with Clinical Director),<br />

General Surgery<br />

Non-core: Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics<br />

BASIC INFORMATION<br />

Mount Isa is a Clinical Services Capability Framework<br />

Level 4 Specialist Service Base Hospital with a total of<br />

80 beds. It is the referral hospital for the North West<br />

region, with remote country/community hospitals<br />

at Doomadgee, Normanton, Mornington Island,<br />

Cloncurry, Julia Creek and health centres at Dajarra,<br />

Camooweal, Karumba and Burketown.<br />

Mount Isa also has a Royal Flying Doctor Service base<br />

providing rural retrievals, transfers and numerous<br />

primary health care activities including clinics at the<br />

health centres mentioned above. Mount Isa Hospital<br />

has undergone a redevelopment which included<br />

a new Emergency Department, new Outpatients<br />

Department, Mental Health (Outpatient) Unit, a Cancer<br />

Care Centre and a Paediatrics Unit.<br />

TTPCH is a 663-bed major tertiary referral hospital<br />

located within the Metro North Health Service,<br />

approximately 10km north of Brisbane CBD. The<br />

hospital offers the premier cardiac and thoracic<br />

services in Queensland and significant secondary<br />
