BASIC INFORMATION<br />

Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is the largest tertiary<br />

public hospital in Western Australia. Located in<br />

Murdoch, 15 kilometres south of the Perth CBD and 9<br />

kilometres east of Fremantle, there is easy access to<br />

public transport, with bike lockers and change room<br />

facilities onsite.<br />

Our 783-bed, $2 billion public hospital ranks among<br />

the best in Australia and includes the 140-bed State<br />

Rehabilitation service, a 30-bed purpose-built mental<br />

health unit and the State Burns and Hyperbaric Units.<br />

We deliver comprehensive clinical services in over<br />

40 different specialties, including Obstetrics and<br />

Gynaecology, and Paediatrics, whilst being leaders<br />

in both research and education. We have the most<br />

advanced medical equipment and the first digital<br />

medical record in WA tertiary hospitals as part of<br />

our state-of-the-art information and communication<br />

technology systems.<br />

Fremantle Hospital (FH), located in the heart of<br />

Fremantle, is a major provider of quality health care for<br />

people in Perth’s south-western suburbs. Fremantle<br />

Hospital is a 300-bed specialist hospital providing<br />

high-quality aged care, mental health, secondary<br />

rehabilitation, planned surgery and specialist medical<br />

services.<br />

the hospital systems and support your transition<br />

from university to internship. The program is now<br />

in its fifth year of operation.<br />

» Protected weekly intern teaching on critical<br />

clinical topics<br />

» Perioperative tutorial series aimed at interns<br />

with a focus on ward based care of surgical<br />

patients and preparing a patient for theatre<br />

» Hands-on case-based prescribing workshops<br />

for insulin and pain/analgesia<br />

» Doctor in Training skills workshops utilising<br />

simulated mannequins for lumbar punctures,<br />

airway management, cardioversion, pacing<br />

and arrhythmias, arterial blood gas procedure<br />

and interpretation, abdominal paracentesis,<br />

male and female adult catheterisation, wound<br />

dressing, communication in CPR and pelvic<br />

examination<br />
