BASIC INFORMATION
The Royal North Shore and Ryde Health Service
comprises the Royal North Shore and Ryde Hospitals,
and its associated health services, which together
meet the health needs of most of the northern Sydney
region. RNSH has some state-wide responsibility for
clinical services in pain management and research,
cardiology, severe plastics and burns injury, neonatal
intensive care, spinal cord injury, high-risk obstetrics,
interventional neuroradiology and cerebrovascular
embolisation.
REASONS TO APPLY
This is one of the few places that has it all: a
Tertiary Level 1 busy Emergency Department with
major trauma, state services and paediatrics in
a friendly place with great teaching, including an
internationally renowned Simulation Centre, research
and innovations opportunities and fabulous staff.
RNSH also prides itself on the care of the Junior
Medical Staff, education and research opportunities
and outstanding successes in both Primary and
Fellowship exams.
RNSH is just north of the Harbour Bridge (20 minutes
to the City and Neutral Bay, 25 minutes to Balmoral, and
30 minutes to Manly Beach) and has good transport
links, so a JMO’s after-hours lifestyle is looking good!
Secondment to Port Macquarie is at the beach- what
more could you ask for as a rural secondment!
The RMOA (Resident Medical Officer Association)
organises many social and sporting activities
throughout each term and year, and maintains the
RMO lounge and amenities. The Association also
contributes to advocacy for RMOs on issues of medical
and industrial politics and works collaboratively with
the JMO Manager and DPET on innovations for all.
