THE RESTORATION OF THE HOLY VIRGIN MARY CHURCH
AND ESTATE COMPLEX IN KOŚCIELNIKI ŚREDNIE, POLAND
Problem ochrony historycznych ruin jest jednym z tematów
stale obecnych w dyskursie konserwatorskim i nadal pozostaje
nierozwiązanym. Praca była próbą usystematyzowania
dotychczasowych doktryn konserwatorskich dotyczących
postępowania z ruinami, zestawienie ich z praktyką projektową
i konserwatorską oraz znalezienie współcześnie najskuteczniejszej
metody ich ochrony. Projekt zakładał rewaloryzację ruin XIII
w. kościoła pw. NMP w Kościelnikach Średnich oraz adaptację
zespołu dworskiego do funkcji Ośrodka Badawczo – Dydaktycznego,
którego działalność skupiałaby się wokół problematyki konserwacji
zabytków. W ruinach kościoła mieściłoby się Centrum Konserwacji
Ratunkowej, a w części dworskiej Centrum Konserwacji
Zachowawczej. Funkcja została wybrana ze względu na specyfikę
obiektów oraz skalę problemu popadających w ruinę zabytków
Dolnego Śląska. Działalność Ośrodka mogłaby przyczynić się do
zmniejszenia liczby obiektów tracących wartości zabytkowe przez
złe zagospodarowanie lub brak konserwacji.
The issue of preserving historic ruins is a topic that is always present
in the discourse about conservation, and it’s one that remains
unresolved. This thesis is an attempt to systematise the current
conservation doctrines regarding ruins, to compare them with project
and conservation practice and to find the currently most effective
method of preserving ruins. The project entails the restoration of the
13th-century Holy Virgin Mary church in Kościelniki Średnie and the
adaptation of an estate complex into a Research and Training Centre,
whose activities focus around the issues of preserving monuments.
The ruins would house the Emergency Conservation Centre, and
the estate part would be the site of the Preventive Conservation
Centre. The function was selected due to the specifics of the location
and the large scale of the problem of Lower Silesian monuments
falling into ruin. The activities of the facility could contribute to
limiting the number of buildings losing their historic value through
mismanagement or lack of conservation.
