WHEREAS: We are concerned that any lessening of these standards would im~
pair the efficiency of municipal fire alarm co.mmunication~,, and
WHEREAS: Such impairment could well increase the loss of life and property
by fire; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED: That this New England Association of Fire Chiefs, at the Annua!
Conference assembled, strongly urges and recommends that no municipality accept or ¯
condone any action that, would impair and/or reduce the efficiency of its municipal
t~rm alarm system; and be it further
RESOLVED: ,That this New England Association of Fire Chiefs does endorse
inc~ recommend the acceptance of the standards of the National Board of Fire Under,
writers for municipal fire alarm systems; and only such changes and/or revisions as
may be hereafter approved and endorsed by the National Board of Fire Underwriters.*

CHIEF GRAHAM, Bristol, Conn. : Mr. President, I move that we adopt this-Resolution
as read by the Chairman of the Resolutions Committee.
This motion was duly seconded by Chief Koltonski and other memberspresent,
and was carried, unanimously.
PRESIDENT MOLLOY: We shall now hear from the .Chairman of the CoUrtesy Corn,
mittee, Richard Frates.
CHIEF RICHARD FRATES, Bath, Maine : The following is the report of the Courtesy
Committee:
The New Engiand Association of Fire Chiefs is about to close its 31st Annual
Conference. It has been a most successful and, happy meeting, and our people of New
England may rest assured that it has been a fruitful one. ¯
hi the form and manner of our delibera.~t.ions and discussions, we h~a~e again dem;
onstrated that the New England Association o,f Fire Chiefs will continue to lead the
way in ever~ battle agains tthe loss of life aiad property from fire.
The Association wishes to express its grateful appreciation to His Excellency,
Hugh C. Gregg, Governor of New Hampshire; Hi’s Honor, Mayor Theodore R. Butler
of Portsmouth; City Manager Robert C. Vidlette of Portsmouth; Chief G. Napoleor~
Guevin, President of the New Hampshire Fire .Chiefs Club; Herbert Whitney, representing
State Fire Marshal Aubrey G. Robinson of New Hampshire; Chief Frederick
R. Crompton of Portsmouth; the Town Officers and people of Portsmouth and Newcastle,
and our genial Hosts, Major and, Mrs. James B. Smith and their son, Jimmie,
who has assisted everyone; to 0ui~-Chaplains, our officers, and the various committees,
especially the Entertainment Committee, which provided such fine entertainment.
’Once again, our stay here has been most delightful and enjoyable, because of the
combined efforts and contributions of so many.
