NEW ENGLAND ASSOCIATION OF FIRE CHIEFS
Immediately following there will be a meeting of the New England Division- of
the International Association of Fire ~Chiefs. ~
Tonight’s meeting is at eight o’clock and, as you "can see by your program, we
are going to have some very interesting spe.al~.ers. The first one is, "’International Activities
and Fire Chief Problems" by .Chief George R. McAlpine of Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma. He is President of the International Asiociati0n of F;re Chiefs. The next
two speakers are from "Across the Border," our neighbor;, I kno~ they have an, inter,
esting s,.ubject to talk about and an interesting message to bring to .you, so I would like
you all here at about eight o’clock. Th’ank you very much.

Monday. Evening Session
The Monday evening meeting of the New England Association of Fire Chiefs
convened in the Ballroom...a.~ ~eight-thi:r~y o’clock, President Moli0y presiding.
PRESIDENT MOLLOY: Please let’s start these meetings on time so we can get out a
little earlier. Before starting this meeting I would like to ask the Secretary if he has
any correspondence.
CHIEF O’HEARN : I have no correspondence, but I have a report of the action taken
at a special meeting yesterday that I believe the members should know of. You know
what we have been through in Mid Massachusetts in the Worcester area. The President
called a special meeting of our officers yesterd~ay afternoon at the Hotel and at
that special meeting reports were heard. So far as is known, Lincoln~ Estes is still in
the hospital, and we lost by accident there--being electrocuted--one of the younger
Chiefs in the small town of Paxton. He was with us live years, a young man 36 or 37
years of age, an& it is dou.btful if Massachusetts laws recompense with an, annuity for
the widow. That is the purpose of the committee, -which I think is a commendable one.
PRESIDENT MOLLOY: We will open the meeting this evening with a gentleman
whom the majority of you know. He is my friend and your friend. He is President of
the International Association of Fire Chiefs--Chief George R. McAlpine of Oklahoma
City, Oklahoma, who. will talk on "International Activities and Fire Chiefs’ Problems."
CHIEF MCALPINE : Mr. President, Fellow Fire Chiefs, ladies and guests, it is indeed
a pleasure and a privilege to be invited to come up here to the grand old section of the
country known as New England and talk to you for just a few minutes this. evening.
First, I would like these Fire Chiefs to know that I am just an, ordinary Fire Chief
from a country .town in Oklahoma. I am not a public speaker, so you will have to
bear with me if I ramble in some of the subjects I try to present to you this evening.
I. would like to tell Chief Nickerson--I believe he is President of the New England
Division--that I have here a gavel which has "New England DivisiorF’ on it. I have
a sounding board on there and a small case of ~walnut that I am presenting to
