4.3.2 Contact with the Parties<br />

<strong>The</strong> Title IX Coordinator, the Associate Title IX Coordinator, or their<br />

designee (often a trained support advocate) will contact the potential<br />

complainant of the conduct reported. <strong>The</strong> Title IX Coordinator or their<br />

designee will advise the potential complainant of their options under the<br />

policy and otherwise, including:<br />

● Voluntarily contacting parents or a relative;<br />

● Seeking legal advice;<br />

● Seeking personal counseling through the University’s<br />

counseling center;<br />

● Contacting law enforcement with the University’s assistance;<br />

● Requesting an investigation and making a formal complaint under<br />

the Complaint Resolution Procedures;<br />

● Requesting that no further action be taken and that the<br />

potential complainant’s identity not be disclosed; and/or<br />

● Seeking interim measures, such as housing or academic assistance.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Title IX Coordinator or their designee will give the potential<br />

complainant a written document that outlines these options and provides<br />

contact information for local resources and support organizations.<br />

If a formal complaint is filed, the Title IX Coordinator, or a designee, will contact<br />

the respondent of the conduct reported. <strong>The</strong> Title IX Coordinator or their<br />

designee will advise the respondent of the process and options under the policy.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re is a presumption that the respondent is not responsible for the reported<br />

conduct, pending the outcome of the process.<br />

4.3.3 Interim Measures<br />

Interim measures are temporary measures taken to ensure equal and<br />

continuing access to University programs and activities and to ensure the<br />

safety of the University Community. <strong>The</strong>y do not constitute a finding of<br />

guilt and may be removed if a report or complaint is found not to be<br />

substantiated.<br />
