polling the student body at the discretion of the current Election Committee.<br />

500.8 <strong>The</strong> Election Rules Committee will issue sanctions and points on a case-by-case<br />

basis. <strong>The</strong> Committee must adhere to the rules and regulations within <strong>The</strong> <strong>Lowdown</strong><br />

and may adhere to similar precedent set by previous decisions by the Committee in<br />

order to form its rulings.<br />

500.9 If the President of the Senate chooses to pursue candidacy for either the<br />

Homecoming Court or in the spring semester Student Government Association<br />

elections, the President of the Student Government Association shall appoint the<br />

President Pro-Tempore of the Senate to succeed the President of the Senate in<br />

chairing the Elections Rules Committee. If both the President of the Senate and<br />

the President Pro-Tempore of the Senate choose to pursue candidacies for either<br />

the Homecoming Court or in the spring semester Student Government elections,<br />

the President of the Student Government Association shall appoint the Attorney<br />

General to succeed the President of the Senate in chairing the Election Rules<br />

Committee. If the President of the Senate, the President Pro-Tempore of the Senate,<br />

and the Attorney General choose to pursue candidacies for either the Homecoming<br />

Court or in the spring semester Student Government Association elections, the<br />

President of the Student Government Association shall appoint a member of the<br />

Student Government Association whom the President of the Student Government<br />

Association deems qualified and able to succeed the President of the Senate in<br />

chairing the Election Rules Committee.<br />

Chapter 501. Homecoming Elections<br />

Queen and King<br />

501.1 <strong>The</strong> date set for the Homecoming election must be a minimum of four days before<br />

the Homecoming game.<br />

501.2 All candidates for Homecoming Queen and King must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA or<br />

higher and be a Senior in classification at the time of the application deadline. <strong>The</strong><br />

candidate should be a full-time student.<br />

501.2.1 A candidate can be nominated by a recognized University student organization.<br />

However, a candidate is not required to be nominated by a student organization in<br />

order to run.<br />

501.2.2 No more than two organizations can sponsor the same candidate.<br />

501.2.3 Each candidate is required to attend a mandatory informational meeting at 5:15 pm<br />

in the Student Center on a date set by the Homecoming Committee. If a candidate<br />

is unable to attend the mandatory informational meeting, he/she must send a<br />

representative on his/her behalf.<br />

501.2.4 Candidates will participate in a campus-wide election.<br />

501.2.5 <strong>The</strong> popular vote will be used to tabulate the King, Queen, and Senior Maid (the<br />

Queen Runner-Up).<br />

501.3 <strong>The</strong> terms “king” and “queen” are gender specific.<br />

Court Maids<br />

501.4 Court Maids are defined as females who want to represent their class (Freshman,<br />
