Policy of Non-Discrimination & Equal Access<br />

<strong>The</strong> University of South Alabama complies with all applicable laws prohibiting<br />

discrimination, including as applicable:<br />

• Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Age Discrimination in Employment Act<br />

• Executive Order 11<strong>24</strong>6<br />

• Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972<br />

• Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Vietnam Era Veterans Adjustment Assistance Act<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Age Discrimination Act of 1975<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990<br />

• <strong>The</strong> ADA Amendments Act of 2008<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Genetic Information Non-discrimination Act of 2008<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Lillie Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009,<br />

Consistent with these laws and University policy, the University does not discriminate on the<br />

basis of race, color, national origin, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender<br />

expression, religion, age, genetic information, disability, protected veteran status, or any other<br />

applicable legally protected basis in admission policies and practices, educational programs,<br />

activities, or employment practices.<br />

Further, no otherwise qualified person with a disability, will be excluded from participation in, be<br />

denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination in the administration of an educational<br />

program or activity, including admission or access thereto, or in employment by the University of<br />

South Alabama solely on the basis of such disability.<br />

Sale of Academic Materials<br />

In order to comply with all federal copyright laws, state ethics laws and other state laws, the<br />

following policy is effective immediately and supersedes the policy distributed in January 1995.<br />

<strong>The</strong> sale of academic materials, including texts, supplementary texts and other supplementary<br />

materials directly to students by either an individual faculty member or staff employee or by<br />

the academic department is prohibited. All academic materials as indicated above must be sold<br />

through the Bookstore.<br />
