data and document management
system, which serves as the linchpin
of the quality processes. The team
members have direct access to the
digitized lists, which ensures that no
outdated specifications are in use.
Whenever a standard changes, the
software automatically replaces the
relevant sections. As a result, the
smart quality documentation always
meets current legal requirements.
The supplier companies benefit from
this system as well. They are now always
in the know as to when which
inspections are to be carried out and
which documents are to be submitted.
If correction loops become necessary,
these can also be mapped
via the newly created, end-to-end digital
quality process.
out the documents, checked and
The teams created the standard test
plans and the QCPs using Microsoft
Excel – with the disadvantage in SAP.
scanned them, and then saved them
that it required a lot of manual effort
and was prone to errors. Each or-
KSB turned this “pain point” into
an end-to-end digital process
containing the collected quality requirements
for all components. The – including an interface to SAP. This
processing team to digitize the
responsible supplier, who then had
to face the task of filtering out the information
relating to their part of the plans at the Pegnitz plant. In concrete
The two use cases show the potential
opened up by the intelligent automation
of processes at KSB. A
cloud-based data and document
management system now enables
the Group to take its quality management
processes to a new, futureproof
level. KSB also benefits from
the smart data environment created
along the supply chain, in which
the exchange of information works
seamlessly – ideal prerequisites for
successfully navigating the path towards
a Smart Factory.
