Frequency converter
with DC supply. SIEB & MEYER has
applied for NRTL/CSA certification
for all device variants so that users
can soon integrate the devices into
machines for the US market without
additional approvals.
Advantages of multilevel
technology at a glance:
Fig. 6: Innovative applications that were developed due to the German turnaround in energy
policy also benefit greatly from multilevel technology. SD4M ensures, for example, a significant
increase in the efficiency of regenerative systems such as rotating energy storage units
(flywheel).
Operation of high-speed motors
with
– very good current quality
– low power loss
– low rotor heating
– high system efficiency
– low insulation stress and
– reduced CO 2
emissions
of the motor cable, the amplitude
of the voltage jumps causes this effect.
Three-level converters use only
50 % of the voltage amplitude at each
switching operation, reducing the
partial discharge problem even with
longer motor cables to a great extent.
Therefore, the effect can be neglected
in the most cases.
What does the SD4M series
by SIEB & MEYER offer?
For the development of the SD4M series,
SIEB & MEYER combined tried and
tested technology with the latest control
and communication technology.
The three-level technolo gy of SD4M
combined with device-dependent
switching frequencies of up to 32 kHz
ensures excellent current quality,
which reduces motor losses and increases
the efficiency accordingly.
The available SD4M vari ants cover a
power range between 70 and 490 kW
or 120 and 800 A rated current. The
multiprotocol real-time Ethernet interface,
available on the device as
standard (including PROFINET IO and
EtherCAT), enables hassle-free implementation
of the SD4M in the higherranking
control. An optimal operation
with an external regenerative power
supply is possible using the variants
