Balfour, in his Manuscript <strong>of</strong> Blazons, says, that BANNERMAN <strong>of</strong> Elsick, in the<br />

shire <strong>of</strong> Kincardine, carried or, on a fesse, between three bears' heads couped azure,<br />

as many mascles <strong>of</strong> the first. And Pont, in his Manuscript, says, BANNERMAN <strong>of</strong><br />

Waterton, in anno 1590, carried azure, on a fess. or, between three bears' heads<br />

couped <strong>of</strong> the last, a mascle gules ; which arms alter somewhat from these <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Forbesses, neither are the bears' heads muzzled, <strong>of</strong> which before.<br />

These <strong>of</strong> the name <strong>of</strong> BANNERMAN have again reassumed their ancient bearing,<br />

as in our New Register. Sir ALEXANDER BANNERMAN <strong>of</strong> Elsick, gules, a banner<br />

displayed argent, and thereon a canton azure, charged with a St Andrew's cross <strong>of</strong><br />
