XXVII. 20. 13 light occurs also in Assyrian in <strong>the</strong> form<br />

in <strong>the</strong> inscription of Samsi-Ramm§,n (I Rawl. 32) line 11<br />

Samas is designated as <strong>the</strong> "light of <strong>the</strong> gods". In Smith's<br />

Assurb. 155. 43 = V Rawl. 3. 113 <strong>the</strong> god "Bel, son of<br />

Bel" bears <strong>the</strong> same epi<strong>the</strong>t.<br />

<strong>The</strong> corresponding Assyrian is sa-bi-I. Comp. II Rawl.<br />

28 no. 5 line 27 kunukku sa sa-bi-i "seal of agate."<br />

<strong>The</strong> jasper can scarcely be meant, for this was represented,<br />
