Chap. I. 1. In <strong>the</strong> beginning when God created <strong>the</strong> Heaven<br />

desolation, <strong>and</strong> darkness was over <strong>the</strong> primal Jiood <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

said ^c* <strong>The</strong> form of <strong>the</strong> opening of <strong>the</strong> Chaldaean crea-<br />

tion-story, as we read it in <strong>the</strong> Assyrian language on a<br />
