Me and my pet, Chooty
My pet is a mynah bird. It’s name is Chooty. It is one year old. It is
brown in color. Its beak and legs are yellow and thick lines of yellow can
be seen around its eyes. One day it came to our home as an uninvited
guest. Then it was a little chick who couldn’t fly. We caught it and gave
it a home Gradually it became a permanent member of our family.
Chooty can talk. It calls my mother, father, brother and me by our
names. When someone visits us, Chooty shouts: “Mother, mother, there
is a thief.” It also asks: “Why what’s the matter?” Everyone enjoys this
talkative fellow's words. In the evening small children come to see
Chooty. Chooty laughs with neighbouring children just like the humans
do. The access to the home telephone for me has been restricted by
father. But I never miss a chance to sneak onto the phone and ring a
friend when there is free time. But if it was seen by Chooty, he spoils
everything by shouting: "Mother, mother” endlessly.
One day Chooty came out of his cage without our knowledge. Next he
came closer to us and called: “Mother, mother.” Then Chooty went back
to his cage on his own free will. After that day he never tried to escape.
