Customs of Sudan
Our customs and habits are the same in many ways; here we are going to
tell about our traditional marriage, which still exists. For example on the
final day of the marriage procedures, the two families as agreed upon
will sit together under their heads/leaders from both the bride and the
bridegroom to attend the final occasion. Before the wedding day the
relatives of the bridegroom will be requested to hand the dowries which
have been agreed.
Dowries of Bari and Shulk tribes should be more than twelve cows and
their calves. Oxen and bulls are added to lead the cows. There should be
more than twenty-four sheep or goats beside the cows. On the wedding
day one bull is slaughtered for both families’ consumption, varieties of
beer are well prepared by the women and served, accompanied by drums
and songs.
When the occasion is over the relatives of each side return to their
respective places. The bride will be escorted to the husband after some
time, depending on the arrangement made by both families. Their
joining together as a new family marks the new relationship between the
two families with honor and respect in general.

Instead of the color of the skin or the type of sex?
What if instead of war people would live in harmony?
What if there was no difference between rich and poor?
What if people with different religions
Would accept that they are neither nor the only ones?
What if people wouldn’t steal,
But work hard and earn their pay the legal way.
What if people wouldn’t pollute as much as they do?
What if politician wasn’t some type of synonym for liar?
What if all these things were different;
Would the world be a better place?
