I finally reached the church. It wasn’t flooded with many people
anymore. All the seats were not occupied so that I could sit down on a
good spot where I can see the altar. Everyone inside looked tired and
sleepy. I decided not to sit anymore. I went to one side of the church, the
spot where my father and I used to stay. The mass wasn’t starting yet,
but I can’t even pray to God. I felt really sad at the same time guilty.
I began to cry again that I didn’t realize that somebody’s behind. I
immediately dried my eyes and pretended that I wasn’t crying. The mass
began and ended, and I was really feeling lonelier than ever. After saying
a short prayer, I turned around and saw that the man behind me was the
very same man I’ve seen earlier.
I did not hesitate to hug him even if he looks so old and rugged. All I
know is that he is my father and I love him so much. We ate puto
bumbong and bibingka and for me, it was the best Misa de Gallo I ever
had.

The polar bear
Some years ago I went to Hawaii. I saw a polar bear there. He came to
me and said: “Go away from here! It’s my island!”
I wasn’t afraid of the bear but my face was as pale as snow.
“The girl is almost in hysterics,” the polar bear said to himself. “Look for
the handkerchief in my right pocket,” he added.
“So you think I am a cry-baby!?”
“Let’s talk and walk,” the bear said.
I found out many interesting things about that bear. He never ate meat,
he was too lazy. Nobody loved that bear. I invited him into my house.
Some years passed but our friendship was as strong as ever.
