in 1066 in a charter by King Petar Kreπimir IV, explaining why this city is often called Kreπimir’s City. The city
was built over a thousand years ago by Croatian settlers, making the oldest native Croatian city on the Adriatic
coast. ©ibenik is surrounded by four fortresses: St. Ana, St. Ivan and ©ubiËevac to the east, and St. Nikola to
the west. ©ibenik is home to the famous cathedral built by Juraj Dalmatinac.
