Constitution and the laws. Court proceedings are public and the rulings are made publicly, in the name of the<br />
Republic of Croatia.<br />
Judges have immunity in accordance with the law. The post of a judge is permanent. A judge will be relieved<br />
of his duties if:<br />
• s/he requests it,<br />
• has permanently lost the ability to execute his/her duties,<br />
• is convicted for a criminal act rendering him/her unfit to execute the duty,<br />
• the State Council of Judges makes such a decision, in line with the law, due to a serious violation of discipline,<br />
• upon reaching seventy years of age.<br />
THE STATE COUNCIL OF JUDGES The State Council of Judges appoints judges, relieves them of their<br />
duties and makes decisions regarding their disciplinary responsibility, in accordance with the Constitutional<br />
Law. The State Council of Judges is obliged to obtain an opinion from an competent committee of the Croatian<br />
Parliament in the process of appointment and approval of conduct of judges.<br />
PUBLIC ATTORNEY’S OFFICE The Public Attorney’s Office is an independent and autonomous judicial<br />
body, authorized and obliged to prosecute perpetrators of criminal and other punishable acts, to undertake<br />
legal actions in order to protect the property of the Republic of Croatia and submit legal expedients for the<br />
protection of the Constitution and the law. The Croatian Parliament appoints the public attorney for a period<br />
of four years, upon the proposal of the Croatian Government, with the prior opinion of the competent committee<br />
of the Croatian Parliament.<br />
Upon the first assumption of office, deputy public attorneys will be appointed for a period of five years. After<br />
re-appointment, a deputy public attorney shall hold the office permanently.<br />
CONSTITUTIONAL COURT OF THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA The Constitutional Court of the<br />
Republic of Croatia consists of thirteen judges elected from among prominent legal professionals, particularly<br />
