Saccolongo e Crèola: Storia ed Arte<br />
Il tema fi ume è un tema storicamente affascinante: lungo i nostri corsi d’acqua che<br />
irrigavano e rendevano fertili i terreni, si svolgeva il trasporto <strong>di</strong> persone e <strong>di</strong> merci e si<br />
formavano i primi inse<strong>di</strong>amenti umani nel padovano. Barche <strong>di</strong> ogni genere, <strong>di</strong> piccola<br />
e me<strong>di</strong>a portata come i burci (1), le burchielle e le padovanelle risalivano il Brenta e il<br />
Bacchiglione: quest’ultimo trasportava soprattutto ingenti quantità <strong>di</strong> legname <strong>di</strong> cui i<br />
nostri colli erano assai ricchi, <strong>di</strong>ventando così un mezzo insostituibile ed economico<br />
<strong>di</strong> commercio.<br />

La storia <strong>di</strong> Saccolongo si è svolta in gran parte attorno a questo fi ume, chiamato<br />
Edrone da Plinio, e Rettone (Retenus); più tar<strong>di</strong> si chiamò Medoacus minor (2) per<br />
