The Garden Table Café<br />

Set in the picturesque grounds of Heritage Gardens Nursery, Garden Table offers<br />

ambience, serious coffee and decadent cakes. You can experience homemade<br />

scones with five-berry jam, lemon-lime meringue cheesecake and Mediterranean<br />

orange cake. Lunch offers sweet corn fritters and warm chicken salads. Antique<br />

china, shelves of gardening and cookbooks and the latest magazines are all<br />

available to browse over. The Garden Table Cafe is open from 9am, 7 days a week.<br />

LEMON, LIME MERINGUE CHEESECAKE<br />

Base<br />

250g plain sweet biscuits<br />

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger<br />

125g butter<br />

Filling<br />

250g cream cheese<br />

440g tin condensed milk<br />

2 lemon (juice and rind)<br />

1 lime (juice and rind)<br />

2 eggs (separated)<br />

1/2 cup caster sugar<br />

Base<br />

Crush biscuits, add ginger, melt butter and combine. Spread evenly<br />

across bottom and sides of a 20cm springform tin.<br />

Filling<br />

Beat cheese until smooth, beat in milk, rind, juice and egg yolks.<br />

Pour this filling into the prepared base. Whip egg whites until soft peaks<br />

form, gradually beat in half the sugar, and beat until stiff then fold in<br />

remaining sugar.<br />

Spread evenly over base. Bake in a hot oven for 10 minutes to brown<br />

meringue. Remove from tin when cold.<br />
