Russia and the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region: bridging a (mis)connection gap 71••••the Strategy, with the aim of excluding unnecessary doubling andparallelisms.Financial conditions surrounding activities of various regional organizationsand EUSBSR-related projects should be clarified (especiallyin view of preparing an EU Cohesion Policy for 2014–2020).Contacts between academic experts on the BSR should be intensifiedand more institutionalized (for example, in the form of the BSRexpert association). The EU, sub-regional organizations and nationalgovernments should take relevant steps for pooling and better use ofexpertise that exists in the academia and NGOs.
