ABSTRACTThe study "The Contribution of Educational Computing in Literacy forStudents of Second Year of Elementary School in the city of Dois Irmãos - RS" refersto a much debated topic in the educational environment. The general objective of thiswork was to analyze how educational computing resources are being used byteachers in the literacy process in classes of second year of elementary school. Thespecific objectives that guided the study was to identify sites and programs used byteachers in educational computing lessons, verifying the language used in them,analyze what types of activities are planned by teachers for educational computinglessons, and their contribution for literacy; observe how is the students' interactionwith the proposed activities ( by teacher) in the educational computing lessons; verifythat the proposed activities are coordinated with the literacy methodology adopted byteacher and identify teachers training to work with educational computing. Inconstructing the literature review, reference was made to aspects of technology ingeneral, technology in education, literacy and educational computing. The authors ofthe theoretical were Fagundes, Freire, Kleiman, Valente, Lemos, Papert, Smith, andothers. From the perspective of answering the problem posed, this study took aqualitative, descriptive and interpretive characteristics, and as research strategieshave made observations, diary, structured questionnaires and document analysis.After analyzing the <strong>da</strong>ta, it was found that the computer is a tool to provide studentsthe opportunity to construct their own knowledge through interaction with the object,which encourages them to think, reflect and strategize, making the process attractiveand pleasurable.Keywords: Technology.
