Option dem Bestand „Fair Value through Profit or Loss“ umgewidmet.
3. Designated as Fair Value through Profit or Loss (Fair Value Option): Grundlage für die Zuordnung zur Gruppe
In
dargestellt.
(11) Anteile an assozierten Unternehmen
option, this item was reallocation to the “fair value through profit of loss” category. They are recorded
in the balance sheet under financial investments, and effects on the income statement were shown
until 31 December 2004 under net income from investments; after 1 January 2005 changes in valuation
from these items must be booked through a revaluation reserve.
3. Designated as fair value through profit or loss (fair value option): The basis for the categorisation in the
group of assets accounted for at fair value is the fact that these assets are managed, measured and reported
on a fair value basis. The change in value of the item is calculated daily. They are recorded in the balance
sheet at fair value under financial investments, and effects on the income statement are shown under
net income from investments.
Investments in unconsolidated subsidiaries as well as other investments are valued at cost. In the event
of permanent impairment, the relevant item is written down. Assets purchases and sales that are customary
on the market are accounted for at their value on the day of trading.
(10) Derivative transactions
The fair value of derivatives is calculated according to recognised methods. Derivatives are treated
differently according to their category, applying IAS 39:
1. Derivates in the trading portfolio are recognised as trading assets or trading liabilities. If they show
positive fair values, including deferred interest (dirty price) they are recognised as trading assets.
Trading liabilities include negative fair values. Trading assets are not offset against trading liabilities
(netting). The change in the dirty price is shown as affect-ing results under the trading result. Derivatives
intended to protect the fair value of banking book items (fair value hedges) are also shown at
their fair value (dirty price) under other assets or other liabilities. Changes in the fair value of the items
to be protected are entered with an effect on the income statement under the net income from
investments in the same way as the derivatives in this category.
2. Derivatives intended to hedge payment flows arising out of balance sheet items (cash flow hedges)
are also reported under financial investments or other assets at their fair value (dirty price). The
change in fair value is, however, netted against the reserves for hedging purposes with no effect on
the income statement.
Other derivatives are intended to hedge banking book market risks, but it is not possible to show a micro
hedge because hedging is conducted in relation to a whole portfolio (macro hedge). In applying IAS 39,
the fair values under this category are also reported in the balance sheet: positive dirty prices are shown
under the financial investments and negative dirty prices under other liabilities. The change in the value
of these derivatives on a clean-price basis is presented under net income from investments in the income
statements.
(11) Shares in associates
Significant associates are accounted for under the equity method.
(12) Intangible assets
Intangible fixed assets are recorded with the respective procurement or manufacturing costs, less scheduled
straight-line write-downs or impairment. This item mainly encompasses the paid acquisition of goodwill,
trademarks and software. Software is amortised by the straight-line method over 5 years.
Goodwill is not amortised by the straight-line method, but instead is checked at least once a year for impairment
in accordance with IAS 36. This impairment test is performed on the respective cash generating units
