Hallo,I am Aleesha from Namibia. Namibia is a country in southwestAfrica. I came here in August 2012 together with my family. Thereason for that is, that my grandmother was a pastor of the EvagelicalLutheran Church in Namibia. One day the bishop askedher, if she wanted to go to Germany to do her job there. She saidyes and that is why we came.My first impression in Germany was: Everything is different.The people here speak German which I cannot understand. Ispeak Afrikaans and English.Of course, I miss my family, my friends, my teachersand mycountry. But EKS and my class 6.1 isOK. The school is muchbigger than my schoolin Windhoek. It is abeautiful buildingand most of thepupils are friendlytowards me,and the teachershelp me to learnGerman. I thinkEKS is cooler andbetter than my formerschool. The teacher neverbeat the children andthey are not so strict.But in Namibia myclass had computer lessons and here I didn't have any so far.The pupils here have much freedom. They can dress as they likeand they can wear their hair as they like. In Namibia we haveschool uniforms. For example in summer girls have to wear ablue dress and a white blouse with short sleeves underneath,white socks with blue and green stripes and black girls ‘ shoes.School in Namibia starts at 7o’clock in the mor-ning and ends at 1 o’clock in the afternoon.So we don’t have meals at school.Here I like the Mensa, which is aplace not only for eating mealsand snacks, but also for meetingfriends.When I first saw EKS I could’ntbelieve it was a school, I thoughtit was a business place. I didn'tknow that there are schoolswith so many pupils.
