Programm <strong>DAGA</strong> <strong>2012</strong> 319Do. 14:50 germanium 3.03 Sprachakustik in TelekommunikationOn Prosodic Quality of Text-to-Speech SignalsC. Norrenbrock a , F. Hinterleitner b und U. Heute aa Digitale Signalverarbeitung und Systemtheorie, CAU Kiel; b DeutscheTelekom Laboratories, TU BerlinWe will present a pilot study of the question to what extent prosodicquality aspects in synthesized speech signals could be captured by F0-related parameters only. Although the relation between a given F0 contourand its time-varying perceptual relevance is highly nontrivial, we findthat a substantial part of the mean subjective quality impression, determinedfrom an auditory test comprising a broad quality space, can beexplained by the joint evaluation of formal prosodic parameters. The resultshighlight the feasibility of instrumental assessment techniques ofTTS quality. The decision about the applicability of TTS systems for telecommunicationservices could thus be simplified in the future.Do. 15:40 germanium 3.03 Sprachakustik in TelekommunikationA Modified Overlap-Add Filter Bank With Reduced DelayJ. Withopf, L. Jassoume, G. Schmidt und A. TheißDigitale Signalverarbeitung und Systemtheorie, CAU KielFilter bank structures are often realized by a sliding window short-timeFourier transform (STFT) as analysis stage. Depending on the methodthat is used for the signal synthesis, these filter banks are categorizedas overlap-add (OLA) or overlap-save (OLS) filter banks. Since both methodshave their own advantages and drawbacks, we propose a trade-offbetween them that helps to reduce the signal delay. A design procedurefor analysis and synthesis window is shown and the performance of thefilter bank is evaluated. The proposed filter bank has been successfully applied and tested forin-car communication systems and breathing masks for firefighters. Inboth applications, only a small signal delay can be tolerated.Do. 16:05 germanium 3.03 Sprachakustik in TelekommunikationSimulation of Non-linear Echo Characteristics of TerminalsR. Serafimov und F. KettlerHEAD acoustics GmbHDelay and echo disturbances are likely the most dominant quality degradationfactors in modern telecommunication scenarios. The use ofecho compensation in terminals like mobile devices and IAD (IntegratedAccess Devices) with wireless phones (DECT terminals) is mandatorytoday in order to provide high speech quality. Miniaturization andthe use of low priced components often introduce non-linearities whichcannot be appropriately handled by echo cancellation, neither in terminalsnor in IAD’s. Consequently an appropriate simulation of such echocomponents is necessary in order to provide realistic testing capabilitiesfor echo cancellers to verify performance in such scenarios. Different
