For didactical reasons, our learning systems integrate powerful back-engines such as computer
algebra systems and theorem provers for interactive exercises. The interaction components
provide feedback to the student for each problem solving step and input for updating the
student model. Unlike predefined learning paths through a content, our systems dynamically
generate learning material depending on the student‘s knowledge, capabilities, and preferences
and according to pedagogical knowledge. The presentation can also be adapted, e.g.,
to an on-screen or printed version. The presentation indicates the students an approximate
mastery level of each concept. In addition, the student can assemble his or her own material
and can write private and open notes which are then appropriately attached to the material.
The actions of the student are monitored and diagnosed such that a suggestion mechanism
can dynamically generate learning and navigation suggestions. A dictionary searches for
mathematical concepts and visualizes the dependencies to instructional units. The dictionary
can be called as a separate tool or from the material presented in a browser.
