INGREDIENTS<br />

Split green gram (moong dal, dbuli)... V4 cup Cumin seeds 1 tspn<br />

Salt as per taste Onions 2 medium sized<br />

Turmeric powder 1 tspn Green chillies 2<br />

Spinach 15-20 leaves Ginger 1 one inch piece<br />

Oil 2 tblspns Garlic 6-8 cloves<br />

Asafoetida a pinch Lemon juice 1 tspn<br />

METHOD OF PREPARATION<br />

•L Pick, wash and boil moong dal with salt and turmeric powder in five cups <strong>of</strong><br />

water. Cook till dal is fully cooked.<br />

Wash spinach leaves thoroughly under cold running water. Then roughly shred<br />

them. Peel onions and chop them finely. Wash green chillies, deseed and chop<br />

them finely. Peel and chop garlic, keep aside. Wash and chop ginger.<br />

3 Heat oil in a kadai. Add asafoetida and cumin seeds. When cumin seeds start to<br />

change colour, add chopped onions and chopped green chillies. Cook till onions<br />

are s<strong>of</strong>t and translucent.<br />

4 Add chopped ginger and garlic, cook for half a minute.<br />

£5 Add the boiled dal. Bring to a boil and add shredded spinach and lemon juice.<br />
