INGREDIENTS<br />

Split green gram skinless Oil 3 tblspns<br />

64 (moong dal, dhuli) 1 'A cups Cumin seeds V2 tspn<br />

Salt as per taste Asafoetida a pinch<br />

Ginger 2 one inch pieces Red chilli powder 1 tspn<br />

Green chilli 1 Turmeric powder V2 tspn<br />

Chopped coriander leaves 1 tblspn Lemon juice 2 tspns<br />

METHOD OF PREPARATION<br />

1 Wash and soak the moong dal in water for half an hour. Boil dal with salt and<br />

turmeric powder till it is just cooked but not mashed.<br />

3 Peel ginger and wash green chilli. Chop ginger and green chilli.<br />

Heat oil in a kadai. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Once the cumin seeds<br />

start to change colour, add chopped ginger and green chilli and saute for half<br />

a minute.<br />

S Add red chilli powder and cooked dal. Mix and season with lemon juice and<br />

salt if required. Mix lightly, taking care not to mash the cooked dal and cook<br />

till dry<br />
