<str<strong>on</strong>g>Notes</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong> Chapter Eighteen – The Pass<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dream<br />
•<br />
In <strong>the</strong> At<strong>on</strong>ement every<strong>on</strong>e is <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong> God's love<br />
without excepti<strong>on</strong>. Love is all <strong>in</strong>clusive, not<br />
"special."<br />
•<br />
To forgive <strong>on</strong>e is to forgive all. To exclude <strong>on</strong>e is to<br />
exclude all. Love is unc<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>al and all <strong>in</strong>clusive.<br />
We become aware <strong>of</strong> God's unc<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>al love as <strong>the</strong><br />
Holy Spirit helps us let go <strong>of</strong> our "special" love,<br />
which is not love, but guilt and fear.<br />
•<br />
Our functi<strong>on</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> world <strong>of</strong> special relati<strong>on</strong>ships is<br />
to be a reflecti<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> forgiveness and <strong>the</strong><br />
At<strong>on</strong>ement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Holy Spirit.<br />
•<br />
By turn<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong> Holy Spirit, our percepti<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
purpose <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> world changes. The purpose <strong>of</strong> our<br />
world becomes At<strong>on</strong>ement through forgiveness;<br />
ra<strong>the</strong>r than serv<strong>in</strong>g as a dump<strong>in</strong>g ground for guilt.<br />
•<br />
There is a beautiful and powerful secti<strong>on</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Text</strong><br />
called "The Little Garden." The ego's idea <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
perfect garden is <strong>on</strong>e <strong>of</strong> specialness and exclusi<strong>on</strong>.<br />
The Holy Spirit's perfect garden is <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>clusiveness<br />
and acceptance <strong>of</strong> all.<br />
•<br />
The ego is <strong>on</strong> a journey from <strong>in</strong>sanity, through <strong>the</strong><br />
world, and <strong>on</strong> to sanity.<br />
•<br />
The little wall <strong>of</strong> dust that stands between us and our<br />
bro<strong>the</strong>rs is s<strong>in</strong>, guilt and fear.<br />
•<br />
Jesus and <strong>the</strong> Holy Spirit are always with us as we<br />
journey <strong>on</strong>. We can let go <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ego's hand know<strong>in</strong>g<br />
we have Jesus by our side.<br />
•<br />
Jesus cannot help "fix" our special relati<strong>on</strong>ships<br />
because <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> special relati<strong>on</strong>ship is to<br />
exclude him and <strong>the</strong> Holy Spirit. But if we ask him,<br />
he will help us turn to <strong>the</strong> holy relati<strong>on</strong>ship with <strong>the</strong><br />
Holy Spirit <strong>in</strong>stead.<br />
65<br />
•<br />
The purpose we share with our bro<strong>the</strong>rs is <strong>of</strong><br />
forgiveness and At<strong>on</strong>ement. When we jo<strong>in</strong> hands<br />
with our bro<strong>the</strong>rs <strong>in</strong> forgiveness, our relati<strong>on</strong>ship<br />
becomes holy and Jesus walks with us.<br />
•<br />
Our journey Home is a process that happens over<br />
time. The truth does not take time, but our fear slows<br />
our realizati<strong>on</strong> and acceptance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> truth.<br />
•<br />
We will likely experience fear and resistance as <strong>the</strong><br />
darkness <strong>of</strong> s<strong>in</strong> and guilt <strong>in</strong> our m<strong>in</strong>d is brought <strong>in</strong>to<br />
<strong>the</strong> light <strong>of</strong> awareness. As we c<strong>on</strong>t<strong>in</strong>ue look<strong>in</strong>g at <strong>the</strong><br />
darkness <strong>of</strong> s<strong>in</strong> and guilt with <strong>the</strong> Holy Spirit, <strong>the</strong><br />
darkness fades <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> noth<strong>in</strong>gness from which it<br />
rose.<br />
•<br />
We are to be aware <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> dynamics <strong>of</strong> ego, and let<br />
<strong>the</strong>m be. We are not to try to c<strong>on</strong>trol, change or<br />
manipulate <strong>the</strong> ego, but we are to look at it with <strong>the</strong><br />
Holy Spirit Who forgives all, heals all, and does all.<br />
The Holy Spirit does everyth<strong>in</strong>g; you do noth<strong>in</strong>g, but<br />
give everyth<strong>in</strong>g to Him.<br />
•<br />
There is a gentle shift from <strong>the</strong> ego's nightmare, to<br />
<strong>the</strong> happy dream, and <strong>on</strong> to our awaken<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong> real<br />
world.<br />
•<br />
We choose <strong>the</strong> purpose — we want to leave <strong>the</strong> ego's<br />
hell <strong>of</strong> specialness, <strong>in</strong>dividuality, pa<strong>in</strong> and suffer<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
The means is provided <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Holy Spirit's ability to<br />
transform our special relati<strong>on</strong>ships <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> holy<br />
relati<strong>on</strong>ship.<br />
•<br />
The Holy Spirit is with us eternally. When we are<br />
experienc<strong>in</strong>g c<strong>on</strong>flict we are to ask <strong>the</strong> Holy Spirit to<br />
help us see through <strong>the</strong> light <strong>of</strong> His eyes. Through<br />
<strong>the</strong> visi<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Holy Spirit all is forgiven; <strong>the</strong><br />
At<strong>on</strong>ement is accepted and we move <strong>on</strong> to <strong>the</strong> real<br />
world. And f<strong>in</strong>ally we reach <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> journey<br />
which never began.<br />
