<str<strong>on</strong>g>Notes</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong> Chapter N<strong>in</strong>eteen – The Atta<strong>in</strong>ment <strong>of</strong> Peace<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> holy <strong>in</strong>stant as we choose to see with <strong>the</strong><br />
bright visi<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> Christ ra<strong>the</strong>r than through <strong>the</strong> dark<br />
clouds <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ego.<br />
•<br />
The holy relati<strong>on</strong>ship is <strong>in</strong> your m<strong>in</strong>d, not between<br />
two people or two bodies. In <strong>the</strong> holy relati<strong>on</strong>ship,<br />
fear's messengers, <strong>the</strong> hungry dogs <strong>of</strong> fear, are called<br />
<strong>of</strong>f; and love's messengers are sent out <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir place.<br />
The hungry dogs <strong>of</strong> fear were sent out to f<strong>in</strong>d s<strong>in</strong> and<br />
guilt <strong>in</strong> your bro<strong>the</strong>rs. Love's messengers are sent out<br />
to f<strong>in</strong>d love, peace and <strong>in</strong>nocence <strong>in</strong> your bro<strong>the</strong>rs.<br />
•<br />
Instead <strong>of</strong> choos<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> ugl<strong>in</strong>ess <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ego's hatred,<br />
we choose <strong>the</strong> beauty <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Holy Spirit's love. And<br />
because projecti<strong>on</strong> makes percepti<strong>on</strong>, we f<strong>in</strong>d <strong>in</strong> our<br />
bro<strong>the</strong>rs what we projected <strong>on</strong>to <strong>the</strong>m.<br />
•<br />
The fear <strong>of</strong> death is a mask over our attracti<strong>on</strong> to<br />
death. The ego wants us to believe <strong>in</strong> death, because<br />
it proves we have our own life separate from God.<br />
•<br />
Death is <strong>the</strong> belief <strong>in</strong> our separati<strong>on</strong> from God. The<br />
resurrecti<strong>on</strong> is <strong>the</strong> awaken<strong>in</strong>g from <strong>the</strong> belief <strong>in</strong><br />
death.<br />
•<br />
Forgiveness is <strong>the</strong> means by which we are able to<br />
undo <strong>the</strong> projecti<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> guilt, and go back <strong>in</strong>side our<br />
m<strong>in</strong>d to resolve <strong>the</strong> true source <strong>of</strong> guilt which is our<br />
decisi<strong>on</strong> to believe <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> s<strong>in</strong> <strong>of</strong> separati<strong>on</strong> from God.<br />
•<br />
Our <strong>on</strong>e and <strong>on</strong>ly purpose is to forgive all as a means<br />
for reach<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> journey which is <strong>the</strong><br />
awaken<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong> real world. Now we look up<strong>on</strong> all<br />
<strong>of</strong> our relati<strong>on</strong>ships as an opportunity to look with<strong>in</strong>.<br />
Look<strong>in</strong>g at our special relati<strong>on</strong>ships, love and hate,<br />
serves as an opportunity to see <strong>the</strong> s<strong>in</strong> and guilt we<br />
have projected <strong>on</strong>to <strong>the</strong>m from with<strong>in</strong> ourselves.<br />
•<br />
The first three obstacles to peace refer to <strong>the</strong> body as<br />
a hid<strong>in</strong>g place for our s<strong>in</strong> and guilt. To overcome <strong>the</strong><br />
fourth obstacle, <strong>the</strong> fear <strong>of</strong> God, we must go with<strong>in</strong><br />
our m<strong>in</strong>d to <strong>the</strong> source <strong>of</strong> fear which is our belief <strong>in</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> orig<strong>in</strong>al separati<strong>on</strong>. Forgiveness helps us realize<br />
69<br />
<strong>the</strong> s<strong>in</strong> is not <strong>in</strong> our bro<strong>the</strong>rs or <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> world, but is <strong>in</strong><br />
our m<strong>in</strong>d. We must face this f<strong>in</strong>al obstacle, <strong>the</strong> fear<br />
<strong>of</strong> God, with<strong>in</strong> our own m<strong>in</strong>d before we can move <strong>on</strong><br />
to <strong>the</strong> real world.<br />
•<br />
We are healed toge<strong>the</strong>r or not at all. All are forgiven<br />
or no <strong>on</strong>e is forgiven. There are absolutely no<br />
excepti<strong>on</strong>s to God's unc<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>al love. His love is<br />
all <strong>in</strong>clusive. The Holy Spirit's forgiveness is <strong>of</strong>fered<br />
to all. The S<strong>on</strong>ship is <strong>on</strong>e. You cannot realize <strong>the</strong><br />
truth <strong>of</strong> your Identity with Christ if you withhold<br />
forgiveness from even <strong>on</strong>e <strong>of</strong> your bro<strong>the</strong>rs. We go<br />
to Heaven toge<strong>the</strong>r or not at all.<br />
•<br />
We are to turn to <strong>the</strong> Holy Spirit to help us forgive<br />
every<strong>on</strong>e aga<strong>in</strong>st whom we have ever held a<br />
grievance — past, present or future; dead or alive.<br />
Not <strong>on</strong>e sta<strong>in</strong> <strong>of</strong> s<strong>in</strong> can be held aga<strong>in</strong>st a bro<strong>the</strong>r if<br />
we are to reach <strong>the</strong> real world. Our relati<strong>on</strong>ships are<br />
<strong>the</strong> perfect mirror for us to look back <strong>in</strong>to our m<strong>in</strong>d<br />
to f<strong>in</strong>d any remnants <strong>of</strong> s<strong>in</strong> and guilt that need to be<br />
released through forgiveness.<br />
•<br />
Crucifixi<strong>on</strong> is a symbol for <strong>the</strong> ego's thought system<br />
<strong>of</strong> s<strong>in</strong>, guilt and fear. As we project our s<strong>in</strong> and guilt<br />
<strong>on</strong>to our bro<strong>the</strong>rs we crucify <strong>the</strong>m hop<strong>in</strong>g to<br />
ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong> our own <strong>in</strong>nocence.<br />
•<br />
Resurrecti<strong>on</strong> is <strong>the</strong> awaken<strong>in</strong>g from <strong>the</strong> dream <strong>of</strong><br />
separati<strong>on</strong>, death and separate <strong>in</strong>terests.<br />
•<br />
The purpose <strong>of</strong> our life, <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> our<br />
relati<strong>on</strong>ships, and our <strong>on</strong>ly goal is salvati<strong>on</strong> from <strong>the</strong><br />
hell <strong>of</strong> egoic existence; through forgiveness and<br />
At<strong>on</strong>ement, we realize <strong>the</strong> real world where God lifts<br />
us back <strong>in</strong>to Heaven.<br />
•<br />
Our choice <strong>of</strong> goals <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> world is ei<strong>the</strong>r to ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><br />
our special separate egoic existence, or to realize <strong>the</strong><br />
truth <strong>of</strong> our Identity with Christ <strong>in</strong> Spirit.<br />
