To give you a flavour of my working day, some of the clutter from my studio<br />

will be transported from Ayrshire to my <strong>Spring</strong> <strong>Fling</strong> studio in the stables at<br />

Lochinch Castle. As an art<strong>is</strong>t I am still excited by the smell of turps and tubes<br />

of fresh oil colour so enticing I could eat them! Each day at 11am and 3pm<br />

I will present a short talk about my working methods, but do feel free to ask<br />

questions at any time during the <strong>Spring</strong> <strong>Fling</strong> weekend.<br />

directions: Follow the signs. Please park outside the castle. <strong>The</strong> studio <strong>is</strong> housed<br />

in the converted stables which are just under the arch. <strong>The</strong>re will also be a “pop up”<br />

tearoom in the courtyard.<br />

recommendations: Courtyard at Lochinch Castle (13). During <strong>Spring</strong> <strong>Fling</strong> there<br />

will be a cafe in the Courtyard. <strong>The</strong>re <strong>is</strong> also a tea room and plant centre on the<br />

Stair Estate. Castle Kennedy Gardens. As part of the Stair Estate, the Gardens at<br />

Castle Kennedy (14) change throughout the seasons. <strong>The</strong> gardens are fantastic<br />

to just wander in for up to a day! <strong>The</strong> gardens are normally open from Easter until<br />

V<strong>is</strong>itors will be welcomed into my workspace where they will find a large<br />

range of d<strong>is</strong>tinctive textile hats, new surpr<strong>is</strong>es and old favourites, but all<br />

original designs, individually woven using a vast array of yarns, silk, cotton,<br />

lambswool, linen, handspun, chenilles (all on show). Concentrating on<br />

innovational design in contemporary living I attempt to create memorable<br />

headwear of universal appeal. Simple bowlers and berets to the eccentric and<br />

extraordinary. Have coffee and experience all the paraphernalia associated<br />

with textile designing- images, works in progress, feathers, threads,<br />

sketches, exhibition pieces.<br />

directions: From Newton Stewart take the A75 towards Stranraer. Take the 2nd<br />

left after the hospital. Stay on th<strong>is</strong> road for approx 5 miles until a T junction with<br />

the B733. From Wigtown take the B733 towards Kirkcowan for approx 4 miles.<br />

<strong>The</strong>n follow signs through gates to Mochrum Park House.<br />
