A ceramic art<strong>is</strong>t in South West Scotland. Although my first language <strong>is</strong> not<br />
Engl<strong>is</strong>h I find it a rich source of inspiration. L<strong>is</strong>tening to the way people<br />
speak reminds me of something, conjuring up a mental image, gives me<br />
an idea for another piece. My main medium <strong>is</strong> clay but I use any material<br />
that fits the work, be it new wood, drift wood, wire, metal, plastic, recycled<br />
materials. I like to make pieces with humour, almost like 3D cartoons,<br />
and if people laugh at my work I have succeeded!<br />
directions: Take the coastal road A711. From Kirkcudbright, drive six miles to<br />
Dundrennan. Drive through the village. One mile further on - through the Glen -<br />
when the road levels out, there <strong>is</strong> a white cottage on the right. That’s Bankhead.<br />
From Auchencairn, drive three miles, gentle uphill. After the pond and wooded<br />
area turn left.<br />

I work with pressed leaves and flowers and collect material from local<br />
woods and gardens. Th<strong>is</strong> year some of my work will relate to a project I am<br />
participating in which will feature my response to Urr Water and its journey<br />
from Loch Urr to the sea. I will also have work relating to my locality of<br />
Auchencairn and the Mill Lane walk. I will demonstrate the techniques I<br />
use throughout the weekend.<br />
