Inspired by my garden and by the ancient landscapes of southwest Scotland,
I delight in painting the colour and detail of the natural world and of fantasy
worlds, using many layers of glazes in oil or acrylic to achieve the effects I
seek. Many of my works are symbolic in content, reflecting my interest in the
mythologies of northern Europe, and have for their underlying theme the
cycles of the seasons. Cards, prints and books, new works of fantasy and
Gold Medal botanical paintings will all be on show.
directions: Turn west off the A7 in the Market Place in the centre of Langholm,
passing Hope Hospital on the left. Bear left again down Charles Street Old to the
free public car park by the Suspension Bridge. George Street runs north along
the riverbank, and no.10 is 50 yards along.

My work is an exploration and expression of the coastal landscape;
I take inspiration from the detail that occurs through the interaction of the
land and sea. I like to work outside responding directly to my subject using
acrylic and watercolours. The exhibition at Langholm Town Hall will show a
combined collection of my paintings and constructed textile pieces. Running
throughout the exhibition I plan to be working on a large charcoal drawing
and will be encouraging visitors to join in.
directions: The Gallery is on the ground floor of Langholm Town Hall which has
a central position in the town. The Gallery can be accessed at the rear of the
building where there is ample car parking.
