Looking around my studio I am amazed by the amount of equipment
I seem to have amassed over the years. There are extruders and pugmills
for squeezing clay, a slab roller for squashing clay, wheels for spinning clay,
as well as wood and metal working tools for die making. All of these are
used to create my ceramic compositions, such as extruded boats, an open
topped tour bus, ceramic furniture or long illustrative dishes. Come and be
as surprised and hopefully excited as I am by the results.
directions: The studio is three miles from Dalbeattie on the A710 coast road, on
the Kippford junction. Look out for the Barnbarroch Pottery sign.

bike ride in Dalbeattie forest. If you are energetic there is a large granite sculpture
‘The Heart Cleft Stane’ at the top of Cloak Hill, worth getting puffed to see.

My work is about capturing the absolute essence of a subject, whether it
be the portrait of a ninety year old person, the rugged elemental landscape
of the Western Isles, or the movement of an elusive wild animal on the
vast open plains of Africa. Whatever the subject it is the light that lets
us see it, and as a photographer I like to explore the way light shapes and
shifts our perspective in a moment. My aim is to capture that moment.
I will also be offering my Scottish visitors the chance to take part in a NEW
PROJECT which will be starting this year and continuing throughout 2014
