I am a silk screen textile producer, creating limited run or one off pieces of
art, clothing and accessories. I am a recent graduate from Robert Gordon
University, Aberdeen, who was given my studio in Kirkcudbright by the
Hollywood Trust to further my work. I produce my prints using a unique
combination of photographic, illustrative, silk printing and dying techniques,
to create a diverse range of products. All works have the central pillar of
quality contemporary textiles and creative craftsmanship, translating
observations I have made from the surrounding beauty of the Scottish
countryside into print.
directions: Entering Kirkcudbright from the A75, head along St Mary’s Street,
turning right onto the High Street after the Stewartry Museum. Wasp Studios are
on the right just beyond the Selkirk Arms Hotel.

I’ve been living in Galloway for two years and I’d like to give this year’s
Spring Fling visitors an insight into my experiences and influences from this
part of the world. For 2013 I will preview a new collection of patterns and
related creations alongside my usual array of brightly coloured fabrics and
wallpapers, limited edition cushions, scarves, bags, and unique patchworked
kimono, skirts, throws and wall hangings. My technique evolves from shapes
seen and photographed, from life and books, line drawings and computer
manipulation. These are digitally printed onto fabrics and wallpapers.
directions: As you enter Kirkcudbright from the Tongland Bridge, drive straight
along St Mary Street and take a right turn after Stewartry Museum which will bring
you onto the High Street. WASPS Studios are on your right just after Selkirk Arms
Hotel.
recommendations: Mute hill estuary walk (21). On leaving Kirkcudbright turn
into Mutehill before taking the road up to Dundrennan. Walk along the coastline
through the forest and out onto the cliff edge for another perspective. It is
particularly stunning during sunset but equally breathtaking views can be
enjoyed almost anytime of day and during any season.
