“How did you do that?” - My aim <strong>is</strong> to produce work of the highest quality,<br />
both in design and craftsmanship. Work which exceeds expectations.<br />
I hope to d<strong>is</strong>play both older and new pieces together with work in progress.<br />
<strong>The</strong> workshop too will be on d<strong>is</strong>play, together with a small collection of<br />
vintage hand tools. With my mobile sawmill, I am <strong>now</strong> able to create<br />
furniture - from standing tree to fin<strong>is</strong>hed article - from local wood,<br />
for local homes and businesses.<br />
directions: From the A7 heading north, pass the signs welcoming you into<br />
Langholm, and take the first left (Glenesk Road). Continue along to the last mill<br />
building on the left hand side. If heading south on the A7, turn right down<br />
Glenesk Road just prior to the signs for leaving/entering Langholm.<br />
recommendations: Pelosi’s Corner Cafe (10). You simply can’t come to<br />
Langholm and not try the icecream! Making the Most of the Moorland (11). An<br />
important environmental, conservation and educational project on the moors and<br />
woodlands surrounding Langholm - and where I spend my spare time helping out!<br />

After an incredible 2012, I’ve spent the early months of <strong>2013</strong> painting<br />
a new body of work that <strong>is</strong> inspired by the incredible hills, coastlines, trees<br />
and flowers of Dumfries & Galloway. Full of vibrant colours, striking skies<br />
and gorgeous landscapes, I have thoroughly enjoyed creating these<br />
paintings, and hope you enjoy them too!<br />
directions: Head into Langholm on the A7 watching for the ‘Julie Dumbarton<br />
Studios’ signs directing you onto Glenesk Road. Pass the Co-op, and turn left at<br />
the T-junction. My studio <strong>is</strong> in the building on your left - drive past th<strong>is</strong> building<br />
and turn into the car park on your left.<br />

and hot cup of tea, Pelosi’s are famous around Langholm and beyond for their hot<br />

81250. Hermitage Castle (12). Situated 15 miles north of Langholm, a castle has<br />
stood on th<strong>is</strong> spot since 1242, and has seen many battles over the years. Now<br />
under the care of H<strong>is</strong>toric Scotland, it <strong>is</strong> open to v<strong>is</strong>itors (entrance fees apply)<br />
and <strong>is</strong> a fascinating look back in time.<br />
