he cannot therefore be expected to approve of a
Society that only exists upon the assumption
that it is ; he cannot pray for the healing of a
schism, which he does not believe to be. An
Ultramontane may pray for Schismatics, who
by their schism are cut off from the Body ;
but
he cannot admit that there is a division in the
Body itself.
With Gallicanism, or its equivalent, we can
