it is difficult, if not quite impossible, to conceive<br />

the Establishment running into Catholicism, anvt,<br />

Having now put before our Readers some of<br />

the objections, which may be fairlv urged<br />

must crave their indulgence, before we close our<br />

In the first place, let me observe that though<br />

I have put the objections into the mouth of a<br />

Catholic, they are for the most part what might<br />

occur to a member of the Church of England<br />

or any other communion ; they are what might<br />

be urged with equal force by eATen<br />

in the columns of the Times, or the Pall Mall<br />

The objection in fact amounts to this : it is<br />

impossible to make England Catholic again ;<br />

impossible as it would be to change<br />

of the Thames, or to empty that River into the<br />

Wash instead of the Xore. Now we can under<br />

stand such an objection as this coming from one<br />

who disbelieved in Christianity, or who abhorred<br />
